Dear Andy:

Thanks for your email message concerning yesterday's insanity in the
U.S.
We had no friends or relatives involved as far as we know. It was a
mind-numbing event, but illustrates the problems that an open society
has in dealing with suicidal terrorists.

I think that the primary current task is to concern ourselves with the
injured and grieving. I have no doubt that civilized nations, whatever
their world view, now can get together and deal with these people rather
than voice empty threats. The most important thing the President said
yesterday is that we will make no distinction between the terrorists and
those who harbor them. I don't know why the rest of the world has not
been explicit about this before.
