Emily - Thanks for your post today.  It has been a long time since anyone posted to this forum. I think there are a couple of options to answer your question.  It may be as simple as that the guy was flirting with the two of you by stealing a shoe. it is also possible that the guy wanted to create a Cinderella situation or a damsel in distress situation and wanted to watch you look for your missing shoes. - Kinja
