Um sie installieren zu können, benötigt man bei Windows 95, 98, ME, NT und 2000 noch den Windows Installer für die jeweilige Betriebssystemversion. Diesen gibt es bei Microsoft als VersionWindows Installer Redistributable for Windows 95, 98, and Me [Link entfernt, weil Linkziel leider nicht mehr verfügbar] und in einer Version als Windows Installer Redistributable for Windows NT 4.0 and 2000 [Link entfernt, weil Linkziel leider nicht mehr verfügbar].

"The Microsoft® Windows® Installer is an application installation and management service. Instmsi.exe is the redistributable package for installing or upgrading Windows Installer."

Bei Windows XP ist ein solches Paket bereits integriert.

"Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows NT 4.0 and 2000 supports Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6 or later and Windows 2000. Windows XP contains Windows Installer 2.0 and therefore can't be installed or upgraded by this redistributable."
